As the Assistant GM Official second to only Adam Pearce on WWE Smackdown, Sonya Deville has wasted no time in shaking things up from top to bottom. One such move was a huge power play in which Deville lifted The Queen, Charlotte Flair's suspension from WWE programming. The suspension and subsequent fine were the result of an interesting twist that in my opinion is slowly revealing new depths to the Charlotte Flair WWE character and persona. WWE suspended Flair after a cascading rage filled emotional meltdown overtook Charlotte Flair on a recent episode of Monday Raw after the current Raw Women's Champion Rhea Ripley interfered in Flair's match against the former Raw Women's Champion Asuka.
Charlotte Flair's loss was not a taste savored by Flair and nor was it appreciated. As a result, Charlotte immediately ground to dust the WWE referee who officiated the bout. With Charlotte Flair left out of Wrestlemania 37, she had a chip on her shoulder with a renewed sense of purpose. A singular focus. A mission that was temporarily halted by Rhea Ripley and her interference which allowed Asuka to gain the upper hand over Flair.
With Sonya Deville's new position and her move to reinstate Charlotte Flair, in one move, Deville has changed the dynamic of the Women's Division and thus provides a key opportunity for Flair to once again continue on her mission to once again be in the pinnacle seat. Making the referee apologize was pure gold in my opinion and added an extra heat to new layers of Charlotte Flair as she calls herself The Opportunity. Many seem to want to jeer Charlotte Flair, but I for one appreciate the hard work she's put into the WWE Women's Divisions and the moments she's helped create.
Sonya Deville's move was boss. The match set up for Mandy Rose versus Charlotte Flair was also a fun way to add to the legitimacy of Charlotte Flair being The Opportunity. As well as a nod to Mandy Rose's prior storyline with Sonya Deville which led to Sonya's brief exit from WWE per the stipulations. Whoever dethrones Charlotte Flair permanently will cement themselves as a huge baby face and instant crowd favorite moving forward. Charlotte Flair's disdain for the Raw Women's Division has certainly not gone unnoticed and nor were they appreciated by other female competitors on Raw. I am excited to see this new side of Charlotte Flair unfold and where it'll lead as well as the paradigm shift taking place with Sonya Deville in a position power next to Adam Pearce. Stay tuned for more on WWE programming!
