About a month ago, I wrote a piece featuring the rise of an up and coming future star in the Pro Wrestling Industry. About a month ago, I wrote of her upward battle, her struggle leading to an epic comeback, and of her resilience all in the pursuit of a dream. And about a month later, after penning my words, AEW has officially signed Red Velvet to the AEW Women's Division. She has earned her very own official AEW contract! Red Velvet has been a mainstay on AEW programming who has been slowly clawing her way up the AEW rankings. For about at least a year, AEW fans have been able to see Red Velvet grow as a superstar and come into her own innate abilities amassing confidence and knowledgeable skill along the way.
From AEW Dark on Youtube to AEW Dynamite on TNT Drama and now as a featured Rising Star on AEW Dark: Elevation, Red Velvet has met every challenge and over time has far exceeded the limiting expectations of others. For one so young in the industry Red Velvet has indeed succeeded. She successfully separated herself from the plethora of talent that have all been competing with the same singular goal in mind - an AEW contract. She mixed things up and she certainly stirred up the Women's Division with her own unique vibe and work ethic. She's consistently improved and learned from each and every opportunity presented to her.
With AEW taking to their social media announcing their signing Red Velvet, I can't help but be reminded of my prior words on Fightful.com as Red Velvet herself now claims her own place amongst the incredibly talented ladies in AEW's Women's Division… "Superstars in the making like Red Velvet are the future in Pro Wrestling. She's a woman you'll want to believe in as she's already overcome the odds by making it to your T.V. screens. She's not yet. She aims to get better and better and better still. You see her upward climb proving herself to everyone including herself every step she takes both literally and figuratively."
"It's with immense conviction that I wholeheartedly believe, 'all you need is love, guts, and gumption.' Self-love to realize that you and your dreams matter. Guts to go after your dreams while learning to believe in yourself when no one else will. And gumption to see your dreams through without sacrificing your integrity as you cheer for yourself in the silence. After all every good story worth reading tests a protagonist to their breaking point in order to show how strong they truly are. Adversity is where we find ourselves and who want to be in the world someday…"
Over a month later folks, and I still agree with my aforementioned words on Red Velvet and her journey. Her joining Britt Baker, Tay Conti, Anna Jay, Ivelisse Velez, Nyla Rose, Hikaru Shida, and others builds an even stronger division heading into the future for AEW fans and the company alike. When putting forth a sum of money, a company looks to use that money as an investment. An investment in their future. An investment into making their own superstar. A long term investment that'll hopefully see a return of greater value back to the company. After all Pro Wrestling is a business. AEW signing Red Velvet is a good move in my opinion. One I would have made and even better is the fact that it wasn't handed to her - she worked hard for it! An accomplishment therefore more worth the earning for Red Velvet. I'm elated for her and cannot wait to see what she does with this great opportunity to elevate herself, her career, and the AEW Women's Division as she grows into her fullest potential within AEW.
