Comicbook.com took to their Twitter this week to share their elation with fans. They announced that their immense respect for WWE's The Undertaker has led to a brand new Funko POP! for The Undertaker. The icon we know and love has been a mainstay legend in the WWE and already has three Funko Pop! figures that cross over into pop-culture. Fast on the heels of The Undertaker's official retirement, Funko Pop! has decided to celebrate an iconic moment from Wrestlemania 36. Funko felt this particular moment was a huge breakthrough for the WWE in a pandemic stricken year according to comicbook.com and that moment was none other than The Boneyard Match…
The Boneyard Match at the 2020 edition of Wrestlemania, fans world-wide watched Wrestlemania 36 on their T.Vs and devices with no live crowd. The WWE had to use some intense creative ingenuity to circumnavigate pandemic in order to host their flagship PPV. Fans witnessed AJ Styles going toe to toe with The Undertaker. The Boneyard match was cinematic in style and emotional as its story played out. Arguably was one of the best segments featured on the show. The Undertaker's appearance for the Boneyard match was a hybrid combination that in my opinion was a huge hit! Modernizing his iconic look while simultaneously paying a sort of homage in a throwback style to his American Badass gimmick.
Funko Pop! thought it'd only be right to add this look to the Funko collection, and I couldn't agree more. The first three Funko Pop!'s of WWE's The Undertaker each feature an iconic phase in the monumentally transcendent career of The Undertaker. The first available was his more modern look sporting his signature trenchcoat with his large wide brim hat and all black gear. The second sees The Undertaker with his Lord of Darkness vibe sporting his hood and spiked gear. The pose achieved with this Funko Pop! perfectly captures the essence of The Undertaker's iconic pose. The third, features a more throwback style to the Lord of Darkness by Funko adding a purple glow. The effect nick-named the figure The Phantom Undertaker. This edition was said to have been harder to come by.
This new figure the fourth edition will capture The Undertaker in all his glory from The Boneyard match. A testament to his resilience, his transformation, his inspirations, his influence, and the moments he's created for fans over the last thirty years.
