The card for this year's SummerSlam continues to grow as WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day will defend their titles on the show.
The champions defend their titles against Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows on the August 21 show, live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The show can be seen live form the WWE Network and is the second year in a row that the show will be held at the Barclays Center.
Due to the storyline injury to Big E, New Day members Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston will be the ones defending the titles. This is the second time that Gallows and Anderson challenge for the titles on pay-per-view since joining WWE earlier this year, with the last time being at Money in the Bank. Anderson and Gallows were unsuccessful in acquiring the titles in a Fatal 4-Way tag team match.
This is the second reign for The New Day as WWE Tag Team champions. On July 20, 2016, The New Day broke Paul London and Brian Kendrick's 331-day record for longest reign as champions, but still trail the Valiant Brothers and Demolition, who had longer reigns with a previous incarnation of the titles.
