Taz Is Enjoying Bryan Danielson On AEW Commentary, Knows They’re Still Finding Their Groove
Taz comments on Bryan Danielson being added to the commentary desk for AEW Dynamite.
Bryan Danielson recently transitioned to a full-time AEW Dynamite commentator following the end of his full-time wrestling career. Taz went through a similar transition in 2002. For the past two decades, “The Human Suplex Machine” has been one of the most prolific color commentators in wrestling history, working for WWE, TNA, and now, AEW.
Appearing on the Going Ringside podcast, Taz praised the transition for Danielson. He also acknowledged that they needed some time to get their bearings as a team, but ultimately, he’s a fan of the move.
“I think it’s cool. I mean, I like Bryan. I respect Bryan and get along great with him. He’s got great insight. You know, some people say, Well, wait a minute. Well, ‘Taz is an analyst, so now we have another analyst in Bryan Danielson.’ That’s true, and it’s okay to have two analysts. I mean, it happens in mainstream sports all the time. I’m a big Mets fan, New York Mets fan. So you know, the announcement for the Mets is a three-man booth forever, a guy named Gary Cohen is a play-by-play guy, and Ron Darling and Keith Hernandez, two former great players, are both analysts. It’s okay to have two analysts, because we have different perspectives on what you’re seeing, the physicality go down in the ring.
“So I’m happy that Danielson is part of the announced team with us, with Excalibur and myself, and I think it’s cool. So we just have to build some chemistry together. In broadcasting, you understand that it takes some time to get a load, as a unit, especially in a three-person booth, which can get a little tougher. So we just need a little time to kind of get our sea legs as a unit under us a little bit. We will, it’ll take a couple of weeks.”
