Ted DiBiase Believes 'Million Dollar Man' Gimmick Still Works, 'Everybody Hates A Wealthy Bully'

There was perhaps no greater villain than Ted DiBiase in the Hulk Hogan era of WWE.

Known as "The Million Dollar Man," DiBiase's character was a hyperbolic take on the super-wealthy yuppies of 1988. Everybody had a price for "The Million Dollar Man," unlike many of the gimmicks from that era, DiBiase believes that a similar character could still work today.

During the most recent episode of his Everybody's Got A Pod podcast, DiBiase explained that one thing everyone will always hate is someone who believes People based on their wealth, which could still land today.

"I mean, here's the thing, the one thing that everybody hates is someone who, by virtue of their wealth, bullies people. And that was the whole essence of 'The Million Dollar Man' character," he said. "I'm, I'm this aloof guy, and I'm throwing my money around. It's kind of like, 'Hey, peon, who are you?' All that stuff, everybody hates that. I don't care if it's better now, if you had a character that was like that, I think it could be a big deal."

Traces of that character can still be seen today in names like MJF in AEW. For an example of that, look at his comments on his most recent AEW deal.
