Tetsuya Naito Says He 'Wasn't Invited' To AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

AEW and NJPW came together for a supershow on June 26 entitled Forbidden Door.

The event saw top NJPW names such as Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay, and Shingo Takagi compete against, and alongside, top names in AEW.

One man who was noticeably absent from the event was Tetsuya Naito, who is a former three-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion and six-time IWGP Intercontinental Champion, and one of the most popular wrestling in NJPW.

Writing in his NJPW Diary, Naito claimed he wasn't invited to walk through the Forbidden Door.

“Unfortunately I was not invited to the “AEW x NJPW” show that is being talked about all over the place. Not invited = not needed. Right? Because of that frustration, I haven’t watched any footage of this show. I’m genuinely upset about it," he wrote.

Shingo Takagi was the lone Los Ingobernables de Japon member at Forbidden Door, through Hiromu Takahashi was scheduled to participate before he was pulled due to a fever.

Naito was in action at the latest New Japan Road event. You can find results from the show by clicking here.
