The closing stretch saw Naito reverse SANADA's Deadfall with a Deadfall of his own, follow up with a brainbuster, and then close things out with Destino.

After the bout, EVIL and Dick Togo attacked Naito before he could do the roll call. EVIL said he would not allow Naito to have his moment.

SANADA came to Naito's aid, wiping out EVIL and Togo.

Naito thanked SANADA and then proceeded to do the Los Ingobernables de Japon roll call as the crowd roared along with him.

This marks the first reign as IWGP World Heavyweight Champion for Naito. He is a former three-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion. SANADA held the title for 271 days and made four successful title defenses.
