The Godfather says that things came pretty easy for him once he began his professional wrestling career in 1989.

While working on the set of ‘Over The Top’ in the 1980s, Godfather would be told that he should try professional wrestling, deciding to follow up on that advice and beginning a Hall Of Fame worthy career in 1989 before debuting the Papa Shango and Godfather characters in WWE throughout the 90s.

While speaking to Adventure Access in a new interview, The Godfather was asked if he had any struggles when he began his wrestling career, noting that it was ‘just another thing he did’, and that things came pretty easy for him.

“No, not really. I’ve been an athlete all my life. I played basketball, football. wrestled, rode dirt bikes, raced the Baja 500 one year. So it was just another thing that I did. It was easy. Things came pretty easy for me, thank God.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Godfather commented on why he stepped into the ring and began his career in the pro wrestling industry. You can read more about that here.
