The Rock: ‘The Final Boss’ Is The Greatest Heel Pro Wrestling Has Seen
Leading into WrestleMania XL, The Rock switched from lovable returning legend to “The Final Boss,” a heel character that broke all the rules.
The Rock would make Cody Rhodes bleed, curse when he wanted, and could control every aspect of the show as he is a member of the TKO board of directors.
On WWE Unreal, The Rock spoke highly of his Final Boss character.
“The Final Boss. The greatest heel professional wrestling has seen. Insurmountable antagonist. There is nothing the Final Boss can’t do. There’s nothing the Final Boss can’t say. Becoming this new version has been the most gratifying decision that I’ve ever made,” said Rock on Unreal.
The Rock kept up his Final Boss character in 2025, asking Cody Rhodes to sell his soul and become his champion at WWE Elimination Chamber. Cody turned him down, but John Cena took the offer, leading to his heel turn.
The Rock has not been on WWE television since Elimination Chamber, but has been referenced in promos by Cody and Cena.
