The Rock Thanks Brendan Fraser For Taking A Risk On Him With ‘The Mummy Returns’: I Want To Thank You For Changing My Life

The Rock thanks a fellow actor for taking a risk on him with ‘The Mummy Returns’.

Early on in Dwayne Johnson’s acting career, he was not the box office superstar that he is today, however, when he was cast in ‘The Mummy Returns’ alongside Brendan Fraser as The Scorpion King, later going on to star in a spinoff movie of the same name.

While speaking on Actors On Actors, The Rock gave Brendan Fraser flowers for taking a risk on him and ‘changing his life’ with his role as The Scorpion King.

“I’d love to start off our conversation by giving you flowers. OK? I’m going to deliver a lot of flowers to your doorstep right now. You and I first connected on “The Mummy Returns.” That was one of the biggest franchises in the world at that time. I was ready to make my transition into Hollywood. And there was a moment where you could have said, “This guy, Dwayne Johnson, he’s never acted before; he’s in pro wrestling.” The word I got back was, “Brendan loves the idea. He welcomed you with open arms.” It meant something to me, because you took a risk on me, and years later, you and I are sitting here. I want to thank you for really changing my life.”

Fraser would go on to admit he didn’t know The Rock from wrestling.
