Thekla describes the match as 'phenomenal.'
This past January, the reigning ROH Women's World Champion Athena toured with the STARDOM promotion. She competed at four shows and in addition to that, she was in action at the Wrestle Dynasty event at the Tokyo Dome.
The conclusion of that stretch of appearances saw her successfully defend the ROH Women's World Championship against Thekla at STARDOM New Years Stars.
Thekla looked back on that match when she guest appeared on Wrestling Observer Live.She expressed that she'd like to run it back with Athena.
Ouuu, yes (there’s a match I’d recommend to those who have not seen my work). I had a big title match with Athena for the Ring of Honor Title in January. So we had her over and we started out as a tag team and it was going well and then we started to hate each other’s guts naturally. She called me a hussy and then one thing led to another… And we had a phenomenal match and she kicked the crap out of me and vice versa but, we ended up on, you know, good terms and it was a lot of fun and I’d definitely do it again with her. So, if anybody’s interested, definitely give that one a watch I’d say.
Fightful Select reported that Thekla has signed a contract with All Elite Wrestling.
On the 5/7 Dynamite, there were several occasions when a graphic of a red and black spider appeared on-screen which is a nod to Thekla's 'Toxic Spider' nickname.
