Thekla Says It Was A ‘No Brainer’ To Re-Sign With AEW, ‘I Don’t Think The Grass Is Greener. I’m In A Flower Garden’
On April 5, Fightful Select reported that Thekla had re-signed with AEW, well ahead of when she would have gone to free agency. The report stated, “The multi-year agreement includes a notable raise, and there was an expectation of outside interest if she reached the market.”
Speaking to TMZ Inside The Ring, Thekla was asked about re-signing with AEW.
“What made this the right move? I think AEW is the perfect fit for me. When boss man asked me, ‘Would you mind staying with us for a little longer than we originally said?’ I was like, ‘Hmm, yeah. If the circumstances are right and allow it for me to feel lucrative enough, I’m definitely thinking that could be a very cute idea.’ It’s great. Honestly, no brainer. I love TK. I love working with him. I love his energy backstage. All the girls are nice. The locker room is quiet and peaceful. I love my job. It’s cute. I don’t think the grass is greener anywhere else because I’m sitting in a fucking flower garden,” she said.
She is the reigning AEW Women’s Champion.
She will defend her title against Jamie Hayter, Kris Statlander, and Hikaru Shida in a four-way match at AEW Double or Nothing.
