Thekla Wanted To Be First Female Member Of Don Callis Family, Explains How Callis Influenced Her Work In Japan

Thekla stated that the D.C.F. was a group she saw herself fitting into.

Going into AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 28th, the current AEW Women’s World Champion, Thekla, returned to TMZ’s Inside The Ring podcast.

As the conversation moved along, she shared that she wanted to be the first woman to be part of the Don Callis Family. Thekla went on to share that Callis inspired some of the work she did in Japan.

“Before I came to AEW, I would see Don Callis. I’d be like, ‘Man, I kind of want to be the first female in the Don Callis Family.’ That could be cool.” She continued, “Well, that was one of the places I could see myself. I feel like he actually inspired me… when I was in Japan and I was doing all the idol killer stuff and going after girls I didn’t like. I heard him say in one of the promos, he said something like, ‘Feel the hate,’ and I was like, ‘Oh! That’s perfect. I’m stealing it.’ I never told him actually so, I might get some smack backstage for actually saying that so, f*ck it.”

Back in May, Callis did a media appearance and addressed the possibility of adding a woman to his faction. His comments can be read here.
