Thunder Rosa: I Would Love To Defend The AEW Women's World Title In Japan But That's Up To Tony Khan

If it was up to Thunder Rosa, she would have no problem defending her gold in Japan.

AEW currently has a working relationship with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. In the past, they have also featured very capable Joshi competitors. Currently, the AEW Women's World Champion is Thunder Rosa. Rosa has made it no secret that she wants to be a fighting champion and when questioned about the Forbidden Door, she told the Battleground Podcast that she would have no problem defending her title in Japan but it is not up to her, it is up to Tony Khan.

“That's a question you have to ask my dear boss, Mr. Khan. I mean, if it's up to me, I'll be like, ‘Tony, I'm gonna get a ticket to Japan. I'm gonna go and defend the championship, right?’ I mean, I would love to be a worldwide champion like that and just defend it in different states, cities, and countries all over the world. I’d love that. That's very old school,” she said.

On June 26, AEW will present a co-promoted show with NJPW. As for a potential show of this nature featuring women, NJPW officials have stated that a possible STARDOM x AEW event could happen in the future. Learn more here.
