Thunder Rosa Reflects On Her Journey Back To The Ring From Injuries, Doctors Told Her To Think About Changing Careers
Thunder Rosa made her return to the ring on AEW Collision, defeating Julia Hart.
It was Rosa’s first match since July 2025, when she competed in the women’s casino gauntlet at AEW All In.
Speaking on Busted Open, Rosa reflected on her journey back to the ring.
“It was very difficult. I was nursing multiple injuries. The main one was pretty severe. I kept it lowkey in that aspect. The last time I was wrestled was All In. I have a direct relationship with my doctors and therapist at AEW. They knew immediately that I was not okay. It was very scary. I tried to focus my attention on broadcasting and doing my sidequests because there were times when I was not cleared to exercise, like lifting weights, for about three months. It took me about five, almost six months, to be cleared to get into the ring. It was a very tough time. The first two months were very dark. I spent a lot of time alone with just my dog, and there were days when I couldn’t get up because of the symptoms that I was experiencing. It changed everything in my body. Having chronic pain was something that I experienced a lo,t and I couldn’t sleep. I needed to be patient. I visited so many doctors and (had a lot of) testing. People don’t see the process. I didn’t post it or anything because I wanted to focus on cleansing,” she said.
She said she was calm but nervous regarding how she felt before her return match.
“I am blessed to be able to get in the ring again because there were points where, discussing with my three different doctors, some of them were like, ‘Maybe you should start thinking about changing your career.’ Mutiple doctors were telling me that,” she said.
Rosa got emotional when discussing her return, expressing her gratefulness and thankfulness to be able to return in any capacity after what she went through. She said she is going to enjoy everything now that she’s back.
After the match, AEW Women’s Champion Thekla confronted Rosa.
