A major title change went down at WWE No Mercy.

Dolph Ziggler defeated the Miz to become the new Intercontinental Champion. Along the way, Ziggler was able to save his own career, which was on the line in the match.

Ziggler and Miz went at it for quite a while, before Ziggler gained a pinfall victory. The match saw interference from Ziggler's former tag team partners, The Spirit Squad.

The Miz vs Dolph Ziggler WWE Intercontinental Championship Match

Dolph goes for a single leg, but Miz gets in the ropes. Dolph rolls Miz up then hits a lariat, Miz flipping him out of the ring. Dolph hits a dropkick then clotheslines Miz over the top rope. Dolph throws Miz into the barricade then tosses him back into the ring. Dolph hits another dropkick then Miz whips him chest first into the turnbuckle for a 2 count. Miz hits a PK for another quick 2 count then stomps on Dolph on the apron. Miz sends Dolph throat first into the ropes then mocks Daniel Bryan with a submission he used to do. Dolph goes for a superkick then Miz hits a neckbreaker for a quick 2 count. Miz hits a series of dropkick in the corner taunting Daniel Bryan and doing his YES chant before Dolph drops him with a dropkick of his own. Dolph goes for a famouser, but Miz counters and Dolph turns it into a roll up. Miz drops Dolph with a kick then Miz goes for the leverage pin for a quick 2 count. Dolph rolls up Miz then Miz rolls him up. Dolph goes for a DDT, but Miz counters with one of his own for a close 2 count.

Miz goes for a figure four, but Dolph pushes him away, Miz following it up with a dropkick to the knee of Dolph. Miz goes for the figure four again and Dolph turns it into a roll up for a quick 2 count. Miz gets hung up on the top rope then Dolph goes for a superplex, but Miz goes for a sunset flip, but Dolph counters. Miz goes for a powerbomb, but Dolph counters and Miz applies the figure four, Miz getting a close 2 count when Dolph has his shoulder down, Dolph getting to the ropes for the break. Maryse gets on the apron and argues with the referee as Miz tries to take apart the turnbuckle, Dolph hitting a Rough Ryder for a close 2 count. Dolph goes for a Zigzag, but Miz counters and Miz puts Dolph into the exposed turnbuckle, following up with a slingshot powerbomb for a very close 2 count. Miz kicks Dolph like Daniel Bryan did, but Dolph hits the Zigzag out of no where for a very close 2 count of his own. 

Miz blocks a superkick then Dolph puts on a sleeper, but Miz gets to the bottom rope. Maryse sprays Dolph in the face then Miz hits a Skull Crushing Finale, but Dolph gets his foot on the rope. Miz takes off Dolph's boot, Dolph hitting a superkick. The Spirit Squad come out to distract the referee with Dolph kicking them off the apron, Miz hitting the Skull Crushing Finale, but Dolph kicks out. The referee tosses Maryse and the Spirit Squad to the back then Dolph hits a superkick for the pin and the win. Didn't see that coming, but okay then.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler via pinfall with a superkick
