Toa Liona On Ricochet’s ‘AHA!’ Laugh: It’s Confidence, That’s The Point

Toa Liona gives his take on Ricochet’s laugh, which has now become his catchphrase.

Toa Liona teams with Bishop Kaun, and collectively they are known as GOA. Currently, they are the muscle behind Ricochet as part of the trio known as The Demand. In AEW, Ricochet found a new level of confidence and is now comfortable laughing in his opponent’s faces. It also happens to be a very poignant and, some may say, obnoxious “AHA!”

Speaking with Jeremy Lambert, Sean Ross Sapp, an SP3 on Fightful Overbooked’s In The Weeds, Toa Liona explained that he doesn’t find the laugh funny. Instead, he sees it as Ricochet mocking everyone who has ever doubted him. It’s all about confidence, and Liona says that’s something he can get behind.

“For me, when he does it, I don’t find it funny. It’s funny to the viewer, but in my head, when we’re talking that talk or beating somebody up, the ‘Aha’ is like, ‘I’m laughing in front of you and you can’t do anything about it.’ It’s funny that people are obsessed about the laugh. That’s the point. You’re talking smack. It’s rubbing it in everyone’s faces. I love it. Ricochet is so extremely talented in ring, but he’s so creative and so charismatic. The world has no idea. For him to showcase that, it’s new for him too. For us to watch him showcase what he already is, thank God you guys are seeing this. He’s charismatic and can talk. The ‘Aha’ is ’aha to everyone who ever doubted him. I see it, damn right, ‘AHA!’.”

Ricochet has told the story behind the laugh. Learn about its origins, and no, it’s not from Jadakiss, here.
