Tom Lawlor Hopes To Get Another Shot At NJPW Strong Title, 'It's Being Swallowed In Some Bizarre Triple Crown'

Tom Lawlor is still looking for his rematch.

Tom Lawlor was the first-ever NJPW Strong Openweight Champion, winning the vacant title in April 2021. Lawlor held the title for 387 days, making him the longest-reigning champion as well. He made ten successful title defenses before eventually losing it to Fred Rosser.

The NJPW Strong Openweight Title is currently held by Eddie Kingston, but it is part of the AEW Continental Classic and will be awarded to the winner of the tournament along with the ROH World Title and AEW Continental Title to create a Triple Crown Champion.

Speaking to Phil Strum on Under The Ring, Lawlor commented on the tournament.

"Honestly, I never got a return match for the New Japan Strong Openweight Title. I never got a shot at that belt again after holding it for over a year, after being the first champion, and now that belt is going to be swallowed up in some bizarre Triple Crown. I'm hoping to get another shot at it. I'm free on Wednesdays. You can put me in that Continental Classic. I'll walk away with that belt again," he said.

The AEW Continental Classic is underway and Kingston is part of the Blue League. He lost his opening contest against Brody King.
