Tommaso Ciampa discusses how important a beard is to his wrestling look, noting that without one, he is unrecognizable.

Last year, while still signed to WWE, Ciampa would draw attention by going clean shaven after suffering a fall, losing one of the biggest elements of his physical look in professional wrestling in his beard. Now, Ciampa has explained just how important the beard is to his image.

While speaking to Simon Miller and Under The Mat in a new interview, Tommaso Ciampa spoke about how he once shaved his beard before going on a cruise, and wasn’t recognized once as a result.

“Well, I will say this. I shaved it about a year or two prior to that (2018) because I had a surgery, maybe a hip or something, whatever it was. We were going on a cruise, the family and I, and I said, this is a good opportunity. I don’t have to be in a ring for at least six months. I shaved it right before the cruise. Didn’t get recognized once. The greatest seven days of my life.”

Elsewhere in another recent interview, Ciampa spoke about the quality of the AEW roster. You can read more about that here.
