Tommaso Ciampa: A "Ref Stoppage" Finish Like Hell In A Cell Wouldn't Fly In NXT

Tommaso Ciampa talks Hell in a Cell finish.

Count Tommaso Ciampa among the many who were displeased with how WWE Hell in a Cell ended. Competing inside Hell in a Cell, the main event between Bray Wyatt and Seth Rollins was ruled a "match stoppage" after referee Rod Zapata rang the bell following Seth Rollins using a sledgehammer.

Appearing on WWE's The Bump, former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa gave his thoughts on the finish.

"From a performer standpoint, if Tommaso Ciampa vs. Johnny Gargano at TakeOver: New Orleans ended by a ref stoppage, it's something that just doesn't fly in NXT. And that's what makes NXT the A Show."

Zapata issued a statement on the finish, saying he was looking out for the competitors. You can view his statement by clicking here.

Ciampa returned to NXT television last Wednesday, Oct. 2, confronting NXT Champion Adam Cole. When asked what fans can expect from Ciampa on Wednesday's episode, Ciampa said, "You can expect a second title reign. For the last five years, I've talked about NXT being the A Show. For the last five years, I've talked about the NXT Title being the most prestigious title in the entire world. Right now, Adam Cole is holding to my possession. It really has nothing to do with Adam. He's the wrong man, wrong place, wrong time. Whoever was holding onto the title, I was going to come for."

Fightful will have live coverage of NXT beginning at 8 p.m. ET tonight, Oct. 9.
