Toni Storm: WWE Has Elevated Independent Wrestling

Toni Storm gives her thoughts on how WWE has helped Independent wrestling.

Much has been made over the past couple of months about the state of the UK Independent wrestling scene with NXT UK growing and placing contract restrictions on talent. As previously reported, NXT UK talent cannot work for non-WWE partner promotions in the UK and if they do work for WWE partner promotions, certain restrictions, like the matches not being streamed and opponents being limited, apply. You can view the full list of restrictions, as well as how the NXT UK contracts are tiered, here.

Those in NXT UK believe that the scene will continue to flourish despite the restrictions. Toni Storm talked to Planeta Wrestling following NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool and gave her thoughts on the state of the UK Independent scene.

"Independent wrestling is at the best it's ever been and what WWE has done, they've come in, and elevated it for us so that we can be seen more," said Storm. "And I'm so thankful for that because it's making it more mainstream and making it more popular. I think independent wrestling needs more exposure because it's so incredible and this is going to help it a lot."

Storm is one of the faces of the NXT UK brand, having won the 2018 Mae Young Classic at WWE Evolution and capturing the NXT UK Women's Title this past weekend at TakeOver.
