Tony D’Angelo Says He Went To Speech Therapy To Transtion From His Don Character

After he split from the D’Angelo Family, Tony D’Angelo became a new man, standing on his own and showing off a more rugged side. He also sounded a bit different.

Speaking to Battle on Battleground, Tony D was asked how he was able to switch up his character from The Don to what fans see now.

“I had to go to speech therapy because I had a little bit of an accent. The new evolution of Tony, I had to keep reminding myself and holding my tongue. That was the biggest thing, for sure. I stopped wearing suits. I wanted to just separate myself from that other guy. I was just telling Mark Henry that I also want to show versatility. I can do the character stuff and go that route, but I can also be a badass and fit into that role. It’s just showing everybody what I’m capable of and the powers at be, whatever they want to do with me, they know what I’m capable of,” he said.

Tony D is set to challenge Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship at NXT Halloween Havoc on Saturday.

Elsewhere during the interview, Tony D discussed the difficulties of being NXT Champion. You can find his full comments here.
