Tensions continue to mount between Tony Deppen and Ron Funches.
On Saturday, September 4, GCW presented its The Art of War Games event. The second match of the show saw Tony Deppen defeat Allie Katch by blowing a snot rocket in her face and then hitting her with a double knee strike for the win.
After the match, Deppen called out Ron Funches, who was on commentary to start the show. Tony took exception with Ron talking trash about him online and on Busted Open Radio. Deppen called Funches to the ring and then slapped him once they came face to face. The actor/comedian got back up, though, and tackled Deppen. He then got on the mic and said, "the thing about comedians is that we're fucking crazy." Funches then suggested that Deppen meet him in L.A. on September 17.
On September 16, the night before GCW's Highest In The Room event, Tony Deppen paid a visit to the Hollywood Improv Comedy Club and interrupted Funches during his set. He began by loudly shouting boring, before getting on stage and asking Funches if he thinks he can hang with him. The comedian was not phased by the remarks about his physical appearance but did have security take Deppen away after he was shoved. On his way out, Deppen also traded words with one very invested patron.
