Tony Khan Confirms 'Battle Of The Belts,' Will Reveal More About Owen Hart Cup After Full Gear

Tony Khan broke a little news on the AEW Full Gear 2021 media call.

On November 1, Andrew Zarian of Mat Men reported that AEW would hold a "Battle of the Belts" special on Saturday, January 8.

Speaking on the AEW Full Gear 2021 media call, Tony Khan confirmed those plans as AEW Dynamite moves to TBS to begin 2022.

"That same week when we launch Dynamite on TBS, we'll have Rampage on TNT, and then we'll have the first-ever Battle of the Belts in AEW. Stay tuned for more info on that. 2022, we're going to start it in a very big way," he said.

AEW Dynamite is set to move to TBS on January 5. As part of the deal, AEW announced quarterly specials that will air on TNT.

Elsewhere during the media call, Tony revealed more details are also coming regarding The Owen Hart Cup.

"There will be updates on the Owen Hart Memorial Tournament after Full Gear. There is so much on the card and so many stories and I didn't want the Owen Hart Cup to lose the focus when I start talking about it. The Owen is going to be a big prize in AEW and I'll have some interesting announcements about it. You'll get more announcements and I'll save it for Dynamite or Rampage after the pay-per-view," he said.

AEW announced a partnership with the Owen Hart Foundation to honor the legacy of Owen in September with an annual Owen Hart Cup tournament being part of the deal.
