Tony Khan Confirms WWE Did Not Contact Him Regarding Adam Copeland (Edge) Being Part Of John Cena’s Retirement Tour

One of John Cena’s biggest rivals throughout his career was Adam Copeland (Edge). The two were forever tied after Copeland cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to win the WWE Title at New Year’s Revolution 2006.
Copeland is signed to AEW, but fans thought he might be part of Cena’s retirement tour in some capacity in 2026.
Appearing on the Ariel Helwani Show, AEW President Tony Khan was asked if WWE ever reached out to AEW regarding Copeland.
“No,” he said. “Adam is going to be with us through the end of the year. He is a huge part of AEW and I have so much respect for him and I really like Adam a lot. I’m glad to have him here. He’s away filming, but he’s with us and he’s going to stay with us.”
Copeland said after AEW All Out in September that he would be stepping away to be with his family.
Cena paid tribute to Copeland during his match with Sami Zayn, hitting a spear. Fans can find Copeland’s thought on the spear here.
