Tony Khan: Doing An Event With AEW Stars In Japan Is Interesting, But It Won't Be 'Forbidden Door'

If there is a Forbidden Door event in Japan, it won't be called "Forbidden Door."

Following the success of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 26, Tony Khan has already discussed the possibility of holding Forbidden Door 2. NJPW President Takami Ohbari added that he would like to see the event brought to Japan with AEW stars competing.

Speaking to Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post, Tony Khan commented on the possibility of AEW stars going to Japan for a joint event with NJPW.

"The idea of doing an event over there with AEW stars and New Japan stars is very potentially interesting, but if it happens it won’t be 'Forbidden Door.' 'Forbidden Door' is gonna stay in North America. It wouldn’t make sense with the time zones, the revenue," he said.

That settles that.

AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door drew ticket sales of over $1.1 million and over 100,000 buys on digital pay-per-view.
