Tony Khan plans to deliver with AEW Rampage The First Dance.
All signs point to CM Punk debuting for AEW at The First Dance at United Center, though AEW and Tony Khan won't confirm his appearance. The company has teased Punk appearing with various easter eggs and comments on AEW Dynamite and in media sessions, but there has been no official announcement.
Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Tony Khan promises fans won't be disappointed.
"Tonight is going to be the biggest surprise we've ever deliver and that's why it necessitates a very different format than what we've done for a standard wrestling card. We've also unlocked something going forward that is going to be a tremendous way to present Rampage on Friday nights. Even though tonight will be different than last week and what we'll be doing going forward, it's a very important show what we're doing tonight and I'm very excited about the buzz and all the momentum the company has right now," he said.
Khan continued by saying, "It's great to be able to have those possibilities and not to have everything spoiled for you. On the other hand, I think everybody has a pretty good idea of what to expect tonight. I don't like to let people down. I have no plans to disappoint anybody tonight. People will be very happy with what they see. They've been waiting to see this for a long time. Finally, at The First Dance, I think we're going to satisfy a lot of people and make a lot of wrestling fans really happy. We're gonna make some new fans, there are people who are going to read what happens and will want to check out AEW. That's what we're looking for."
