Tony Khan: I'm Confident AEW Winter Is Coming 2021 Can Have The Same Impact As Last Year

Tony Khan is looking to follow up last year's Winter is Coming.

At Winter is Coming 2020, Sting made his AEW debut and Kenny Omega, with the help of Don Callis, defeated Jon Moxley for the AEW Championship, kicking off the partnership between AEW and IMPACT Wrestling.

On Wednesday, AEW will hold another Winter is Coming special on TNT, and Tony Khan is promising a similar impact.

“It’s Hangman Page defending his AEW title against Bryan Danielson. A dream match. Do I have to say anything else? MJF against Dante Martin for the Dynamite Diamond Ring. A wrestler who’s had a really good 2021 against a 20-year-old with one of the brightest futures in the entire industry. What about Serena Deeb against Hikaru Shida? Another match that has the potential to steal the show. This is a show that I’m really excited about and I’m confident that ‘Winter is Coming’ this time around can have the same impact as last year’s version," Khan told Christopher Walker of DAZN.

Asked about a potential debut given Sting's debut last year, Khan replied, “I’m more than aware that there’s a number of free agents out there, wrestlers I admire too, but I’ve got to say that you just have to keep watching over these next few weeks and not just ‘Winter is Coming.’

AEW is set to hold its Holiday Bash on December 22 and an episode of Rampage on Christmas Day. Plus, the last Dynamite on TNT will air on December 29 before the show premieres on TBS on January 5.

Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Winter Is Coming at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
