Tony Khan: I'm Not Ready To Say When Sting Plans To Retire, His Motivation Is As High As Ever

Tony Khan comments on Sting's impending retirement.

Sting recently stated that when his AEW contract ends, at an undisclosed time in 2023, his time behind the face paint will also come to an end. Tony Khan is not quite ready to disclose when showtime will come to an end for "The Icon," but he wants AEW fans to know that seeing Stinger in person is something special.

During a recent appearance on the In The Kliq podcast, Khan tells Baby Huey that Sting may be thinking about retirement, but his passion for wrestling is at its peak.

"I talk to Sting a lot. He is somebody who has been such a huge boost to AEW since he arrived. Sting debuted a little over two years ago at the first Winter is Coming event in AEW," said Khan. "I catch up with him pretty frequently on a regular basis. I have to say, Sting's motivation for pro wrestling is as high as it's ever been. He loves what he's doing. I do think he's starting to think about what retirement will look like, but he's also not slowing down at all in the present. So, I'm not ready to say exactly when Sting is going to hang it up, but I do know every time we get to see Sting go out there in AEW, it's very special."

Since joining AEW, Sting has competed in several tag team matches alongside Darby Allin. In December 2022, Stinger revealed that he had his knee cleaned in the recent past.

Darby Allin and Sting will also be a part of The Great Muta's final match. Fans can learn more about that upcoming match here.
