As the Inner Circle began to separate, Sammy Guevara went his own way and eventually aligned on AEW television with Tay Conti.
Conti was previously associated with Anna Jay and the Dark Order.
Guevara and Conti brought their real life relationship to AEW and fans quickly turned against the duo as they leaned into their love and personal life. The two went from liked singles stars to a disliked duo.
While speaking to Swerve Strickland and Monteasy on the Swerve City Podcast, Khan praised Conti for her improvement since signing with AEW and discussed the reaction to her and Guevara.
"Since she's come into AEW, she's had great matches. Obviously, her presentation has changed and changed and now it's continued to evolve with Sammy and they've found something really special on and off-screen. It's great and I'm really happy for them. I was really happy for them, so maybe I misread how happy the fans would be for them. I think I've course-corrected that. Course correcting, you don't try to fit a square peg in a round hole. I like Sammy, I like Tay. The fans like Sammy, the fans like Tay. I like Sammy and Tay together. The fans do not. That's where we differentiate. That is what I've come to accept," he said.
Guevara and Conti are on vacation in Brazil after winning the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship just days after Guevara lost the AEW TNT Championship to Scorpio Sky in a ladder match.
Sky is set to defend his AEW TNT Title against Frankie Kazarian on Friday's AEW Rampage.
