Tony Khan On Potential Interest In ROH’s Tape Library And Talent: We'll See What Happens

Tony Khan comments on any desire to acquire the Ring of Honor library and the possibility of Ring of Honor talent coming into AEW.

One of the biggest stories to hit the wrestling world in recent weeks concerns Ring of Honor and the announcement that they will be halting operations for the first quarter of 2022 in an effort to re-envision what the company will be moving forward.

All talent will be released from their contract at the end of this year unless their contract extends beyond this year in which case, they will be paid through March 31, 2022.

During a recent media scrum with AEW president Tony Khan, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp asked Tony if he had any interest in Ring of Honor's tape library, which features some of the top matches from Bryan Danielson and CM Punk before they entered WWE as well as some of the biggest matches from members of The Elite before the start of AEW.

Tony would say that he didn't feel comfortable commenting with any certainty regarding what could possibly come of Ring of Honor's tape library and in regards to the talent, Tony remained equally objective, noting that there was interest, but nothing he could comment on with certainty.

“Well, there's a lot of great stuff there. They've had a lot of great matches and shows in their library and they have some very good talent. I can't say with any certainty, but we'll see what happens on the business side and as far as the talent goes, I would say stay tuned to AEW. There's Dynamite every Wednesday, Rampage tomorrow, Full Gear on Saturday. You never know who is going to show up in AEW. As for the business side of it, I'm good friends with a lot of people in the company of Ring of Honor and the agent that represents them is my neighbor in LA. He lives down the block and is a friend of mine. I am very familiar with what is going on there but I can't say with any degree of certainty what will happen on the business side.”

There have been conflicting reports regarding whether or not the tape library for Ring of Honor is up for sale. You can learn more about that at this link.

Ring of Honor is scheduled to finish out the year and this year's Final Battle pay-per-view on December 11 will serve as "The End of an Era." You can learn about the first match booked for the event at this link.
