Tony Khan Shares That AEW Rampage Name Was Inspired By Rampage Wrestling Simulator Game

The Rampage name was inspired by a simulator game.

Guest appearing on Jeremy Lambert’s 24-hour In The Weeds charity stream was AEW/ROH President Tony Khan.

During the hour-long conversation, Khan revealed that the name for the now-defunct AEW Rampage show was inspired by a wrestling simulator game that he used to play.

“I grew up playing Rampage (Wrestling).” Khan continued, “Hence the name Rampage.”

AEW Rampage lasted from August 2021 to December 2024. The first main event of the show was Britt Baker defending the AEW Women’s World Championship against Red Velvet, and the last main event of the show’s existence was HOOK versus Nick Wayne.
