Tony Schiavone Named 2024 'Gordon Solie Award' Recipient By George Tragos/Lou Thesz Hall of Fame

Tony Schiavone will be honored with the Gordon Solie Award at the 2024 George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame ceremony in what will truly be one of the greatest nights in the history of our sport.

The George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame announced that Tony would be receiving this accolade on Monday, October 9, 2023. The award honors those in the industry who have done extraordinary work on the broadcasting side of professional wrestling.

Tony Schiavone Named 2024 Gordon Solie Award Recipient

All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) Tony Schiavone is the company’s lead play-by-play announcer, an in-ring and backstage interviewer, a producer, a podcaster and he has just added one more title to his resume; Hall of Fame member.

Today, The George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame announced that Tony Schiavone will be receiving the prestigious 2024 Gordon Solie Award. Schiavone joins the namesake of the award, Gordon Solie, AEW’s Jim Ross, and podcaster Conrad Thompson as the fourth recipient of the honor. The Gordon Solie Award is given to individuals who exhibit excellence in the field of wrestling commentary, embodying Solie’s commitment to the craft.

Tony Schiavone was the long-time voice of World Championship Wrestling, providing the soundtrack to many iconic moments in the Monday Night War, including Hulk Hogan turning heel at WCW Bash at the Beach 1996. Schiavone also spent a year in WWE, beginning in 1989. During his short tenure with the company, Tony called more iconic moments, including the first face-to-face meeting of The Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan in the 1990 Royal Rumble Match.

Today, after an extended absence following the demise of WCW, Scvhiavone is once again working behind the microphone and behind the scenes for AEW. He has been with the promotion since 2019. He is also the host of the "What Happened When" podcast along with Conrad Thompson. Thompson was gifted with this same honor in 2023.
