Tony Schiavone Reveals Backstage Talk With Paul Walter Hauser Before ROH Match
Tony Schiavone says he warned Paul Walter Hauser that he might get booed at Ring of Honor Death Before Dishonor.
One of the matches on the card at Ring of Honor’s Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view was a Fight Without Honor between QT Marshall and Golden Globe Award winner Paul Walter Hauser. In a bloody brawl, Marshall bested the “Fantastic 4” actor. After going through thumbtacks, glass, tables, and more, Hauser earned the respect of Marshall and the crowd at the former ECW Arena.
Speaking on What Happened When, Tony Schiavone praised Hauser’s performance and noted that he warned the actor that the Philadelphia crowd might boo him.
“I talked to Paul before the match, and I said,’ Paul, you may get booed.’ He said, ‘Why do you think?’ I said, because first of all, it’s Philadelphia because they are, they are wrestling fans, and you’re an actor, and they’re going to maybe boo you because you’re trying to become a wrestler. Well, little did I know that he would be working with just a guy that everybody hates, with the exception of all of us in the backstage area, because we love him, Qt Marshall. He’s phenomenal. He really, really is.
“So they even chanted, ‘He’s a wrestler. He’s a wrestler. It was a very emotional time for him after the match. This was very emotional, and I’m just glad I was there to see it. By far, it was my favorite match on the show, only because Paul and I are friends, and I work closely with QT, and it was really cool to see.”
