Top Dolla: "Just Like There Is No Leader In The Shield, There Is No Leader In Hit Row"

Top Dolla sees everyone in Hit Row as the leader of Hit Row.

The group began forming this past May when Top Dolla helped Isaiah "Swerve" Scott win a match against Leon Ruff. Not too long afterwards, Ashante "Thee" Adonis and B-Fab were added to the mix. After five months together in NXT, the group was drafted to SmackDown in the 2021 WWE Draft.

During a recent appearance on WWE After The Bell with Corey Graves, Top Dolla set the record straight on who the leader of Hit Row is, saying that they have no leader. People can argue about it being Swerve or himself, but the truth of the matter is that the focus can shift as different stories present themselves. It works because there are no egos in the group and they all want each other to shine.

"A lot of people get mad saying, 'Swerve was the leader of Hit Row in NXT and now Hit Row sucks because Top Dolla is the leader on SmackDown.' There is no leader in Hit Row. Just like there is no leader in the Shield, there is no leader in Hit Row. We all are leaders because we all feel like we're stars. We all feel like we were waiting for our opportunity and it just so happened that it all came at the same time. If Swerve is in a storyline like the NXT North American Title and he gets to be the focal point, then we shift. We all have his back. If it's me and [Adonis] going after the Tag Titles, we shift. If it's me doing a solo thing, we shift. There is no leader, we're all leaders. That's what makes our crew cool because there are no egos involved. Do we gain anything from bickering over who should shine more when we could all just shine?" he said.

Scott & Top Dolla made their SmackDown in-ring debuts on the October 22 episode of SmackDown and were part of a backstage segment with New Day the following week.

On November 4, Hit Row lost one of their members as B-Fab was released by WWE. To learn about all 18 Superstars who were let go by the company, click here.
