Travis Banks Calls Daniel Bryan The "Standard-Bearer", Says He Wants To Be As Good As Bryan Is

Travis Banks is eager for TakeOver.

In just a few hours, WWE's NXT U.K. brand will be spotlighted on the WWE Network for NXT U.K. TakeOver: Blackpool from the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool, England. There was a bout that was added to the card this past Wednesday and that is Travis Banks versus Jordan Devlin. "The Kiwi Buzzsaw" and Devlin have been on the up-and-up on NXT U.K. TV and both are looking to climb the ranks and today one will rise and one will fall. Banks has been up since 6:30 AM BST in his hotel room getting pumped for his match at TakeOver and he further elaborated on his excitement while talking with 'Sun Sport'.

"I've been up since 6.30 AM in my hotel room, music on and doing some squats and I can't wait. It's weird to say this, but when I came to the U.K. I didn't get expect all this to blow up like it has. My independent stuff went really [well] then all of a sudden about 18 months later WWE called. I've been the first Kiwi to main event at the Royal Albert Hall, and even though I didn't win, it went really well, and for NXT U.K. to put so much faith in me and put me front and center [on] shows -- I must be doing something right, and all my hard work and trying to get noticed is paying off." Banks said.

Travis Banks is the second longest reigning PROGRESS World Champion of all time and he finds inspiration in another reigning champion -- that being the current WWE Champion Daniel Bryan. Banks had high praise for Daniel and stated that if he can be even a third of the wrestler that Bryan is then he considers himself a success.

"Daniel Bryan is the standard-bearer." Banks expressed. "I've always looked up to him, even when he was wrestling on the independent scene. He has a crazy work-rate... a working wrestler, and if I can be even a third of the wrestler he is then I can be a success as he is -- such a monster when it comes to professional wrestling."

Travis also talked about his experiences working with WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels and to read those comments and more, click here.
