Trevor Murdoch Expresses His Interest In A Match With Eddie Kingston, Comments On Facing Tyrus

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Trevor Murdoch is ready for his title defense at NWA 74, and he also has his sights set on the future.

Murdoch, who won the gold at NWA 74, will defend title title against Tyrus at the pay-per-view; he was originally scheduled to face Nick Aldis, but Billy Corgan pulled the latter out of the bout.

In an interview with PWMania, Murdoch discussed his goals and made it clear that he wants to face the "toughest" opponents.

“As World Champion, we have to fight the biggest, toughest, strongest, meanest, and fastest opponents. I want to continue doing just that," he said.

Holding a title as prestigious as the Ten Pounds of Gold means a lot to Murdoch, and he made it clear that he's focused on carrying the NWA into the future.

“It means something to me. Being the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion means something in the business, and in the world while a lot of others don’t. The legacies and the future of the NWA are pressures I’m carrying on my shoulders right now," Murdoch said.

The champion also brought up a potential match with Eddie Kingston, among other stars, by saying, “He’s the type of guy where if he did win, he’d hold the respect of the NWA to the highest ability. Also, guys in the NWA too, such as Pope, and Thom Latimer. I wouldn’t mind going toe-to-toe with them. They have the potential to be champions.”

Ahead of his match with Tyrus at NWA 74, Murdoch gave his challenger credit, but he emphasized his plan to take care of business.

“Billy put a 6’9 400lbs monster in Tyrus in front of me. That creates its own set of problems in itself. Tyrus is coming into this undefeated, yet to be beaten, and that says something. Not to mention the mountain of the man he is. At [NWA] 74, I’m going to go in and do what I normally do, and that is beat the snot out of him. I’m going to go in there, wear him down, and just going to do whatever I can to get him down," he said.

NWA recently announced that Davey Richards will defend the MLW National Openweight Championship at NWA 74. More information is available here.
