Trey Miguel Comments On His Decision To Stay With IMPACT, His Love For The X-Division Championship

Trey Miguel still has a lot he wants to accomplish in IMPACT Wrestling.

Speaking with the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, Miguel said that when he became a free agent he knew right away that he didn't want to leave IMPACT. Although he has been with the promotion for two years, he still feels as though he has a lot to do. As for his former Rascalz teammates Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz (now Nash Carter and Wes Lee of MSK) moving to NXT, Trey says that his decision to stay didn't come as a surprise to any of them and that uprooting wasn't an option for him at the time. Here is what he said:

YOH To Miss Best of Super Juniors With Shoulder Injury

"I initially knew I didn't want to leave IMPACT at all. IMPACT has been a home to me and I have always been a huge IMPACT fan since I was a teenager... It means a lot to me to be there and to have them be the first company to sign me to a television program means a lot to me too. As much as I'd like to say I accomplished a lot in two years, I don't think I did, really. I don't want to leave a basketball court without winning a championship. That's just not me. That's not to say anything about Dez or Zach, you know what I mean? Though we were a trio, we were pretty segregated at IMPACT too. The entire time I was kind of doing a singles thing. We never had too many trios matches, there were only a handful of them, so it wasn't a shock to them, it wasn't a shock to me. I have a lot of things going on between the wrestling school and family and uprooting just wasn't something that was feasible so I weighed my options, it was just something that can't be done right now and I stayed."

Furthermore, Trey Miguel states that the X-Division Championship means more to him than any other belt in wrestling. He said the following:

"That's a big part of my goal, the X-Division Championship, honestly, I feel like it kind of went unpaid off last year in my feud with Ace Austin. I felt like we had a lot of potential for growth and to get more out of where we were going, but I didn't accomplish getting the X-Division Championship. All my favorite wrestlers have had the X-Division belt... The X-Division Championship means more to me than any other Championship in pro wrestling. I'm not going to become X-Division Champion in NXT, that's just not going to happen. That's not how it works. That physical Championship holds a place in my heart. I have to have that one day... I just want to see that through."

Miguel is currently feuding with Sami Callihan on IMPACT television. The Draw has been offering to mentor the young Miguel, but he has consistently turned Sami down despite repeated attacks on himself and his friends.
