Trick Williams Says He’s Grateful More Black WWE Superstars Are Getting An Opportunity Today Compared To The Past
Trick Williams comments on Black superstars getting more opportunities in WWE.
Throughout history, Black superstars in WWE haven’t had the same opportunities as others, and often their roles and lack of success has been diminished or downplayed in storylines.
WWE has three Black superstars on the main roster who are described as “can’t miss talents” in Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, and Oba Femi. All three had success in WWE, and all three are already featured regularly and in a high position on the main roster.
Appearing on the Ebro, Laura, and Rosenberg Show, Trick was asked how he feels about Black superstars having the opportunities he has today compared to his peers in the past.
“I’m grateful. [Rosenberg] just said how myself, Je’Von, and Oba Femi should all three have a match at WrestleMania as rookies. I don’t think you could say that ever in WWE history. If I’m not mistaken, it’s been a while since a single black talent superstar has had a one-on-one match during WrestleMania, period. It’s a lot of tag teams. Whatever the scenario is. It’s not shade to all the brothers who have been doing it before me because they are so talent and I’ve learned from a lot of them. I’m just saying how grateful I am for this moment of time to get the ball,” he said.
Ricochet vs. Logan Paul at SummerSlam 2023 was the last singles match on a WWE PLE featuring a male Black superstar. Snoop Dogg was the last Black superstar to win a singles match.
Elsewhere during the interview, Trick commented on his dream match in WWE. You can find his full comments here.
