Triple H: AJ Lee’s WWE Return Has Been In My Mind For A Long Time
Triple H discusses the return of AJ Lee to WWE.
AJ Lee was away from WWE for 11 years before returning to team up with her husband, CM Punk, at WWE Wrestlepalooza against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. Many in the WWE locker room looked up to AJ, and they’re now excited to share a locker room with her again. Others who have shared a locker room with her are also thrilled she’s back. One of those is Big E.
During the Countdown to WWE Wrestlepalooza, Big E asked Triple H how long he had been thinking about bringing AJ Lee back. The WWE Hall of Famer said it’s something he’s wanted for a while, and he had discussed it with multiple people. He joked that all he had to do was finally get a woman to slap CM Punk.
“Look, it’s been an idea in my head for a long period of time. It’s something I’ve talked to others about. It’s something I’ve spoken to CM Punk about. Turns out, all I had to do was get somebody to slap the crap out of her husband, and here she is. So lucky us. Unlucky CM Punk for the slapping part, but lucky for us, because AJ Lee is back. This is one of those things when you see somebody like her that has had an effect and an impact on so many young ladies, so many young women, so many of the Superstars of today have been influenced by her. To see her back here, I can’t wait to see it tonight. I had a chance to see some training footage of her, and it looks like she hasn’t missed a beat. This is going to be awesome.”
