Triple H Doesn't Want To Hold Young Guys Back In The Ring By Having Them Face Veterans

Triple H reveals why veterans don't always work with young talent.

Many fans complain about veterans returning to WWE only to work with other veterans instead of young talent. Goldberg's return featured him wrestling The Undertaker and Dolph Ziggler. Meanwhile, Triple H's last handful of matches have been against Batista, Randy Orton, The Undertaker, and Kane.

Speaking to Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, Triple H discussed why returning veterans don't always work with the younger talent.

"It’s tough. Young guys talk to me all the time about that and as I say, ringing me up and saying ‘hey, what if?’ but the truth is, if you’re uncomfortable – we’re all aware of where we are at and what we can and can’t do, for the most part," said Triple H. "You don’t want to hold a guy back, you don’t want him to shift his style down to yours and when you look at what they can do you go ‘I can’t do that any more clearly’ – or ever could have. The business has changed, it always grows exponentially over time and the physicality of it. It’s tough. Sometimes you put the veteran in there with the younger guy but sometimes you’re just holding him back and it doesn’t always work out."

Triple H continued, discussing the Goldberg vs. Undertaker match from WWE Super ShowDown.

"People can say what they want to say about Saudi Arabia or the match between Undertaker and Goldberg. Listen, my hats off to both of them, it was a bad situation," stated Triple H "I can attest to it that it was about 105 degrees and 100 percent humidity at ringside and even Randy [Orton] and I, when we were talking about it afterward, there were moments where I wanted to change gears but I just cannot! It’s humanly impossible in this moment. It was like wrestling in a sauna, it really was. And there was those moments like when you step out of a sauna and you’re like ‘jeez, I’m lightheaded I might pass out’ – it was so ridiculously hot. And you put pressure on yourself and everything on top of that, so it’s a lot. It’s a funny thing in our business top, man. No one cuts anybody slack on anything – ever!"

There is no word on when, or if, Triple H will return to the ring. One thing is for certain; if he returns to action, it won't be on NXT. You can read why Triple H won't be an active performer in NXT by clicking here.
