Triple H: Nothing From WWE SummerSlam Got Cut, There Was No Card Announced

Triple H responds to criticism of women's bouts being cut.

WWE SummerSlam featured eight matches and ended up lasting over four hours. Many fans thought Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus would be part of the card as the rivalry had been brewing for months and SummerSlam seemed like the ideal location for the blow off.

Instead, Trish vs. Becky was made official for the August 14 episode of WWE Raw.

Speaking at the WWE SummerSlam press conference, Triple H addressed "the banter" of Trish vs. Becky not making the card.

"There is always going to be criticism of everything we do. My only thing is, one, have patience, two, there is always another thing around the corner. There was a lot banter this week about matches being cut, which is the word that was used. Nothing was cut. There was no card announced. If we don't have more things in the pocket ready to go for a PLE than can fit in the PLE, I've done a terrible job. There is always an injury waiting around the corner. There is always a moment that changes everything. When one creative thing changes, it changes the trajectory of everything. If you don't have more stuff than you need ready to go, you failed. Then you get to the unfortunate place where, I have too much stuff. The show was plenty long tonight. If it had been longer, it would have been bad. There comes a time where you say, 'does everything get shorter time? Does everything get rushed and hurried, or do we move things around, shift it, and give it a bigger spotlight?' As a performer, for me, I'd rather have a bigger spotlight. That's how I look at it," said Triple H.

He also noted that everything the women have gotten, they have earned, and he's never put them in a position just to garner headlines.

While doing media for WWE SummerSlam, Zoey Stark said Triple H didn't leave Trish vs. Becky off WWE SummerSlam to screw the women. You can find her full comments by clicking here.
