Triple H Says Vince McMahon Won't Allow WWE To Rest On Its Laurels

Triple H continues to tout WWE's Performance Center, but drops a statement that some creatively stifled fans may not agree with.

When speaking to Sports Illustrated recently, Triple H spoke of WWE's developmental system that went from the days of OVW to DSW to FCW, to their present day Performance Center and NXT. Triple H opened up, and said WWE were creating a path for superstars.

“If you want a career in the WWE, here is how to go about it,” said Triple H. “There is advice on what to expect at tryouts and testimonials from people who have careers in WWE. It’s all about creating the pathway, and this will really open the faucet and allow talent to flood in from a global level.”

Later, the legendary wrestler-turned executive made a claim that Chairman Vince McMahon refuses to let the company become stagnant -- something the oft-criticized company has sometimes come under fire for under the guise of "lack of competition."

“Vince has it ingrained in this company that we never rest on our laurels,” said Triple H. “That mentality of ‘We’re the best and no one is going to touch us’ is the kind of arrogance that leads to your demise. There is always room to grow, always room to learn more and improve what you’re doing. That is necessary for us to be able to grow as a brand and as a company.”

Reportedly, Triple H has gained more control in the company in recent years, as he runs both 205 Live's cruiserweight program, in addition to the aforementioned NXT program.
