Triple H Shares That He Came Up With Idea For Seth Rollins Injury Angle, Did Not Tell Referee Jessika Carr It Was A Work
Only a select group of people knew.
Season two of WWE: Unreal premiered on Netflix on January 20th. One of the clips from the show saw WWE Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque speaking to Cody Rhodes at ringside before Saturday Night’s Main Event in July 2025.
It was at that event that Seth Rollins faced L.A. Knight, and it appeared as though Rollins blew his knee out while performing a springboard moonsault.
In the clip, Levesque shared with Rhodes that there was going to be an injury angle and only a select group of people knew about it. Levesque said it was his idea and added that he did not clue in the official for the match, referee Jessika Carr.
“I wanna smarten you up to something that nobody knows. But I want you to not repeat it to anybody. But, you’re our guy. You need to know what’s going on here. We’re gonna do an angle tonight where Seth (Rollins) blows his knee out in his match with L.A. Knight. We’re kayfabing this like a motherf*cker, so I don’t want you to mention this to anybody because everybody will feel like, well, Hunter told everybody… The only people that really know: Me, Bruce (Prichard), Ed (Koskey), Bobby Roode, Seth and LA. (Paul) Heyman knows because he was there when I came up with it. Right now, that’s it. I don’t know what move they’re gonna do yet but it’ll be something towards the end of the match where he blows his knee out and L.A. sets up for the next thing but Seth ain’t there. He’s down, goes to Jess (Carr), Jess gives the X, medical comes out. Legit goes to him. He’ll call an audible, which Jess will go tell L.A. Knight. Did the referee need to know? No.”
Rollins would return to WWE programming after the main event of SummerSlam night one. He cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on CM Punk to become World Heavyweight Champion.
