Triple H: A WWE Title Over Your Shoulder After The Big Game Is The New 'I'm Going To Disneyland'

Triple H says custom WWE Championships have become an expected sports tradition.

Last night at Super Bowl LV, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs with Tom Brady at the helm. As is customary, WWE gifted the team a custom WWE Championship belt to celebrate their victory.

Speaking with TheWrap, Paul Levesque aka Triple H opened up about how this tradition started and compared it to one of the traditions of the famous sport.

“David Ortiz — Big Papi — was a huge fan. Still is. Here’s a guy with all this bling, he’s got the earnings and the giant chains and everything. It’s part of who he is,” Levesque said. “When they won the World Series, he was such a big fan and was so into them, we [sent him a] title. He wore it nonstop and just put it over like a million bucks. It just took on a life of its own and we went with it."

Triple H would say that a WWE Championship is another thing you expect to get when you become an “it” star in the sports world.

“[A WWE belt], it’s another thing you expect to get when you become ‘It,’ when you become the champion,” Levesque said. “Rocking one over your shoulder after winning the big game is the new ‘I’m going to Disneyland,’” he added.

Antoine Winfield Jr. posed with the championship belt during the postgame press conference on Sunday. Triple H revealed that the title belt to actually sent to teams are no longer replicas and are now custom-made official championships.

The Buccaneers already had a WWE champion on their team. Rob Gronkowski is a former WWE 24/7 Champion and he also made history on Sunday by becoming the first former WWE Champion to score a Super Bowl touchdown.

The Super Bowl was held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida. WrestleMania 37 will also be hosted at Raymond James Stadium on April 10th and 11th. Stephanie McMahon recently stated that she was glad the Super Bowl is going first. Read her comments at this link.
