At WrestleMania 18 in Toronto, Trish, alongside Lita, would challenge Jazz for the WWE Women’s Championship, with Jazz retaining her title at the event, despite being in Stratus’ home country.
While speaking to The Toronto Sun in a new interview, Trish Stratus reflected on her match at WrestleMania 18 in Toronto, noting that she doesn’t share the sentiment from fans that she should have won.
“I remember everyone being like, ‘oh, Trish should have won in Toronto.’ I was just like, it just wasn’t the moment for me, you know? I really believe that everything happens for a reason, and like, that was my Toronto homecoming. Think about it. It was 2002, so I’d been in the business for two years. For me to be in a Women’s Championship match in front of 60,000 people at the SkyDome. That is a story. That is a fairy-tale ending for me, just to be in that match was amazing, and to get that reception and to wear my little Canadian flag thing and stuff. So everything was meant to be the way it was meant to be, and yeah, I mean, what a great event to be a part of.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Trish spoke about her first meeting with Lita. You can read more about that here.
