Two Big Winners In The WWE NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III Non-Title Matches, Gargano Speaks

While the title matches are the big reason that the fans are at WWE NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III, there was also a pair of non-title encounters that definitely stole the show.

In the opening match of the card, it was Adrade “Cien” Almas with Zelina Vega by his side defeating Johnny Gargano.

Fightful’s very own Ryan Cook is providing live coverage of the event and here are the closing moments of the match from Cook:

Gargano hits a slingshot DDT for a near fall before Almas hits double running knees in the corner for a near fall of his own. Almas then hits a shotgun dropkick in the corner off of a distraction by Zelina before Almas hits a DDT for the pin and the win.

Winner: Andrade Almas via pinfall

The distraction provided by Vega was a D.I.Y shirt that was thrown at Gargano. D.I.Y was the tag team of Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, but Ciampa viciously attacked and laid out Gargano after the duo lost a ladder match to the Authors Of Pain at WWE NXT Takeover: Chicago.

In the other non-title contest of the evening, the undefeated Aleister Black kept his record perfect with a victory over Hideo Itami.

Here are the closing moments of this battle, provided again by Ryan Cook:

Hideo drops Black with a series of strikes before Black gets a near fall off of a roll up. Black hits a roundhouse that nearly knocks Hideo out before Hideo comes out of nowhere and hits a Michinoku off of the top rope for a near fall. They exchange kicks and strikes before Black hits a jumping knee only for Hideo to hit a falcon arrow for a near fall. Hideo hits a hesitation dropkick in the corner before Black hits the Black Mass for the pin and the win

Winner: Aleister Black via pinfall

Johnny Gargano spoke out moments after his loss, in a video that you can see below.
