Two Championship Bouts And The Return Of Jon Moxley Set For AEW New Year's Smash Night 1

Next week, AEW kicks off New Year’s Smash with a World Championship match, a major Grudge Match, and the return of Jon Moxley.

Last week, it was announced that Kenny Omega would defend the AEW gold against Rey Fenix. This week, Kenny Omega hyped up that encounter by suggesting that whenever Fenix gets a major opportunity, he fumbles the ball.

In addition, it was announced that Jon Moxley will return on the final live episode of AEW Dynamite in 2020. The last time he was seen was on December 2 when he lost the World Championship to Kenny Omega due to the help of Don Callis.

Next week will also feature Jake Hager going one-on-one with Wardlow. It has been known since the start of Maxwell Jacob Friedman attempting to find his way into the Inner Circle faction that Jake and Wardlow have a silent tension and every time they're around each other all they do is stare a hole through one another. This week, after Wardlow missed another week of action Jake Hager laid down the challenge for a one-on-one match next week.

Also, after weeks of tension, Hikaru Shida will also defend her Women's Championship against Abadon.

Multiple matches were also announced for January 6. You can learn more about the first Dynamite in 2020 at this link.
