UFC Releases Stardom Wrestler Syuri Kondo, 8 Other Fighters

Several UFC fighters, including a current pro wrestler have been released.

MMA Junkie has confirmed nine names that didn't renew their deals or were released, and are as follows:

Taro Okada Explains Why He Felt Stardom Had To Dismiss Rossy Ogawa

Aleksandra Albu (3-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC)

Ali Alqaisi (8-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC)

Cyril Asker (9-4 MMA, 2-3 UFC)

Alex Chambers (5-5 MMA, 1-4 UFC)

Chris De La Rocha (5-3 MMA, 1-3 UFC)

Syuri Kondo (6-3 MMA, 1-3 UFC)

Bojan Mihajlovic (10-6 MMA, 0-3 UFC)

Suman Mokhtarian (8-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC)

Dmitry Sosnovskiy (11-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC)

Kondo is a particularly interesting name. She went 1-3 in the UFC but hadn't competed there since June 2019. Kondo had put her pro wrestling career on hold while pursuing her UFC run, but returned in May 2019 at Ranmaru Festta. Just a couple of months hafter her UFC loss, she resumed a full time pro wrestling schedule.

This year, Syuri wrestled a dark match ahead of night two of Wrestle Kingdom 15 in the Tokyo Dome where she was victorious alongside Giulia over Mayu Iwatani and Tam Nakano.

We're told Syuri's release was more of a formality at this point, and was likely to happen sooner than later anyway.
